Celeste, Texas, was plotted in 1866 by the Gulf, Colorado, and Sante Fe Railroad in Northwest Hunt County. The town was incorporated in 1900 and the earliest school records date to the late 1880s. The school went by various names until around 1907 when the name was changed to Celeste Public School. By 1912, Celeste High School was formed.
