Scope and Contents The first commencement at East Texas Normal College was held in 1901. The collection is organized into six groups and chronologically, beginning in 1909. Programs were published for distribution at the annual, midwinter and summer ceremonies. The University History Vertical File Collection consists of topical files regarding organizations, departments, employees, students, and events. The files were compiled by Dr. James Conrad through his personal research and through small donations to the Special Collections Department. This collection is on-going and as such, this finding aid is subject to change.

The University Photograph Collection comprises photographs, negatives, and slides that document the history of Texas A&M University-Commerce. Dates range from the foundation of the college in 1889 until the prominent use of digital photography in the mid-2000s. The collection is arranged topically. Several areas of focus include athletics, campus buildings, faculty and staff members, campus departments and offices, and student activities.
