Biographical / Historical
Charles Thomas Holley was born November 6, 1903 in Cumby, Texas to Margaret Melvina and Charles Henry Holley. He married Thelma Marion McDaniel on April 27, 1924. He attended East Texas State Teachers College in the 1920s and studied Social Science and History. Holley also played on the football team and was a member of the "T" Association. Following his education at ETSTC he worked as a principal in Grand Prairie, Texas where he served two elementary schools, two junior high schools, and one high school. He had two children: Carla Joan Couser and Jay Thomas Holley. He passed away on November 19, 1975 in Grand Prairie.
The "T" Association was comprised of students who had been awarded their letter for athletic accomplishments. Students who had proven themselves by participating in organized sports, showing leadership, or showing their skill in another way were awarded a cloth "T" that could be sewn onto a jacket or a sweater. The "T" Associaiton fostered goodwill among various athletic groups and also held social events such as banquets.
