Biographical / Historical
Lone Oak, Texas is located in Hunt County. Settlers first arrived in Lone Oak in the 1850s and named the area for an oak tree that grew alone in the middle of the grasslands. In 1869 a Post Office was established. Lone Oak grew to include farms, cotton gins, and local businesses.
