Clarence Pittard Collection
Scope and Contents
This is an artificial collection created from Clarence Pittard's correspondence and writtings sent to Dr. James Conrad, former University Archivist at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Clarence Pittard corresponded regularly with Dr. Conrad in the late 1990s and sent him multiple versions of his book, The Golden Age of Baseball in Hunt County, Texas for review. This collection consists of several drafts of his book, one unbound final copy, letters from Pittard to Dr. Conrad, and photographs.

Biographical / Historical
Clarence Pittard was born in Hunt County in 1912. He played baseball in the 1920s-1930s in the blackland farming communities near Wolfe City, Texas. In the 1990s, Pittard began recording his recollections in his book, The Golden Age of Baseball in Hunt County, Texas.
